WHAT IS REHABILITATION WALKING?

Using stability poles our rehabilitation walking course is aimed at people with balance and coordination problems and long term health conditions including, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Head Injury, Stroke, Cancer, as well as those following hip and knee surgery. 

All participants are assessed by our instructor Joanne, who is a background in Nursing, prior to commencing the course

We offer both group (Max 8) and individual lessons. 

Following completion of the course (4 weeks for groups) participants are welcome to join our wellness or social walks

NB: During the Covid 19 pandemic we are only offering individual private lessons for our rehabilitation customers

COURSES & WALKS

Rehabilitation Poles

Group Class

THESE CLASSES ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Our group classes are ideal for established community groups, such as Parkinson’s Association, Cancer Support Groups, who meet on a regular basis. The group classes can be held indoors if the group have a regular meeting venue or outdoors.

Group size: 4 people 

Cost €10 pp each session

Poles provided

Grants maybe available through the local sports partnerships for these sessions

 

 

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lessons are ideal for people who have significant mobility problems or who do not feel ready to join a group.

Cost 1 Person €30 per hour                                                                               2 People €50 per hour

Wellness Walks

THESE WALKS ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

You need to have attended Nordic Poles 1, Rehabilitation Walking Course or an equivalent Nordic Walking Course before attending these walks.

These walks are suitable for people who have health issues which means they are only able to walk short distances and/or walk at a slower pace. 

The walks are at a very gentle pace on flat ground and will be for 30-45 minutes in duration.

POLES ARE PROVIDED

NB: Carers are welcome free of charge to walk but will be unable to use poles unless they have attended a Nordic Walking course. If they have attended a course they would need to provide their own poles

Cost €5 pp Max 4 people including carers

Social Walks

THESE WALKS ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

You need to have attended Nordic Poles 1, Rehabilitation Walking Course or an equivalent Nordic Walking Course before attending these walks.

These walks are suitable for people who have health issues which means they are only able to walk short distances and/or walk at a slower pace. 

The walks are at a very gentle pace but may include woodland trails and tracks. The walks will be for about 1 hour in duration.

POLES ARE PROVIDED

NB: Carers are welcome free of charge to walk but will be unable to use poles unless they have attended a Nordic Walking course. If they have attended a course they would need to provide their own poles
