Spend Time with Friends Whilst Learning Something New

If you are holidaying in County Clare or living locally and want to try something new with friends and family then our Nordic Walking experiences could be just what you are looking for.

The experiences provide you with the opportunity to enjoy quality time with friends and family whilst trying a new skill. Relax in the garden of Burkedale House and enjoy afternoon tea or continental breakfast during your  taster experience, or learn all the skills of Nordic Walking at our Nordic Poles 1 class followed by tea and scones. You could always make a weekend of it and arrange a bespoke Nordic walking package.

Nordic Walking Taster Experience

1.5 Hour Nordic Walking Taster Session followed by either Afternoon Tea or Continental Breakfast

Our 1.5 Hour Taster Experience is an ideal experience for people looking for a fun way  to spend time together while trying a new skill. You will receive a 30minute introduction to the use of Nordic Poles followed by either Afternoon Tea or Continental Breakfast in the tea garden at  Burkedale House.

NB This is just a NW taster session and will not give you enough knowledge for joining our walks.

Duration: 1.5 hours

Learn to Nordic Walk Experience

2.5 Hour Learn to Nordic Experience followed by Tea & Scones

Our Learn to Nordic Walk Experience is ideal for groups of friends who would like to learn a new skill whilst having a great social outing. It is suitable for anyone who can comfortably walk 1K unaided. If you are unable to do this then please call us as we have another more suitable experience for you.

Using 90% of your muscles you will improve you cardio vascular fitness, burn more calories, improve your posture and help your mental wellbeing all while walking.

You will be able to join our Nordic Fit club or walks after completing this experience.

Your lesson will be followed by Tea & Scones in the garden of Burkedale House.

Duration: 2.5 hours

Weekend Experiences

Stay for a Weekend & Enjoy Fabulous Walks

If you are looking for a weekend break in the peace and tranquility of the Clare countryside coupled with some exercise then we can arrange a bespoke package for you. Whether you want to, learn to Nordic Walk, do lots of short walks or complete the Burren Way we can put a package together for you.

You will stay in our award winning self catering accommodation and we can then arrange walks to suit you. Call us to discuss all the options available.

Continental Breakfast

Following your Nordic Walking Taster session enjoy a continental breakfast of freshly baked bread, pastries, homemade granola, fruit yoghurt and either cold meats and cheese or smoked salmon and eggs. Served with juice, fresh coffee or a selection of teas

You will leave feeling ready to start your day.

Afternoon Tea

After your Nordic Walking Taster session you will relax in the tranquil surroundings of Burkedale House, listening to the birds and the trickle of the Arabic rill as you sit in the oriental tea house for afternoon tea of sandwiches made with homemade bread, delicious cakes, and scones along with a selection of teas.

Frequently Asked Questions

For our taster experiences you will only be walking very short distances as you are just going to be given an idea of how the poles work. For our Learn to Nordic Walk Experience you should be able to comfortably walk for 1km.

You need comfortable walking shoes (not boots) and clothing. Layers are good that you can add and remove as required. A raincoat is a must in Ireland! For for information on clothing for walking click here.
If you have special dietary requirements please do let us know and we will endeavour to meet your needs.

We provide everything you need for your Nordic Walking Experience including the poles. If you have Nordic Walked before and have your own poles please feel free to bring them along.
