WHAT IS COMMUNITY WALKING?

Walking for 30 minutes a day or more on most days of the week is a great way to improve or maintain your overall health.

If you can’t manage 30 minutes a day, remember ‘even a little is good, but more is better’. – Check out our couch to 5K programme

Walking with others can turn exercise into an enjoyable social occasion.

You are advised to see your doctor for a medical check-up before embarking on any new fitness program, particularly if you are aged over 40 years, are overweight or haven’t exercised in a long time.

This new initiative for Nordic Fitness Ireland will start in March 2020. From our experience of teaching Nordic Walking for the last 2 years it is apparent that there are many people who feel they do not have sufficient levels of fitness to engage in this whole body walking activity but are keen to improve their fitness through walking.

Our Community  Walking Programme is FREE to all participants. It’s aim is to encourage people who currently have low levels of physical activity to become more active through walking. We will be providing free weekly walks  which will be one hour in duration and are open to all adults.

Additional we will be leading a FREE Couch to 5K, 6 week walking programme.

The walks will be lead by our walk leaders under the guidance of our fully qualified instructors. The Couch to 5K programme will be lead by our YMCA Level 2 Fitness Walking Instructors.
